Introduction

The Book Garden is the largest cultural center in the Middle East, which was opened in 2017(1396 Hijri) in Tehran. The architect of this huge project is Sam Tehranchi, who has been working with a team of designers and architects since 2007(1386 Hijri). At first glance, this complex is a large three-story building, the view of which is covered with large glass and uses natural light as much as possible.

But if you look at this building from the north to the south, it looks like a half-opened book and looks like a ship from above. In 2017, the architecture of this building won the Asian Architecture Award. A 2-hectare green space and a lake has been built in the open area of the garden, which shows the continuity of the connection between culture and nature. The garden is adjacent to the National Library of Iran in the east, to the Academy of Sciences, Persian Language and Literature in the Northeast, to the Art Garden in the northwest, and to the Museum of the Sacred Defense Museum in the west.

Different parts of Tehran Book Garden

The huge three-story building of the Book Garden consists of 4 main blocks. Each of these blocks has its own facilities, and tourists and visitors can reach their destination by following the signposts. The following is a brief description of each of these blocks.

Block A: Baharestan

The Baharestan is the northernmost block in the garden. Where belongs entirely to children and adolescents. In this space, you can find cultural products related to children and adolescents. The sculpture of more than 30 cartoon characters Embedded in this block, which is a good opportunity for those interested in selfies and nostalgia to take a Memorial photo with their childhood favorite characters. The little prince, Judy Abbott, Zorro and Sergeant Garcia, Red Hat and cousin, the lying shepherd and his sheep, Sherlock Holmes, Nell and his grandfather, Sandbad and Alibaba, Pinocchio and the cunning fox and the male cat and dozens of other famous characters are all gathered here.

Block B: Imagination

The imagination block of Tehran Book Garden really takes you to the world of imagination. If you want to get from Baharestan (Block A) to Negarestan (Block C) Book Garden, you have to cross this narrow 60-meter corridor. You don’t have to bother walking, because two pedestrian rings take you on a dreamy journey to the other side of the complex without any hassle. On the walls on either side of the hallway, professional projectors cast pure images of nature and anything that is enjoyable for passers-by to see as close as possible to imagination block.

 Block C: Negarestan

If you enter from the main entrance of the Book Garden, Negarestan block is in front of you. With 11 cinemas and theaters, Negarestan is the most artistic part of the Book Garden. The block includes the Book Garden Cinema Campus, the Children’s Science Garden and the Book Garden Training Center.

 Block D: Sarvestan

Sarvestan is one of the main parts of the Book Garden. The ground floor of Sarvestan includes a bookstore and an adult cultural products store. This store is one of the largest cultural stores in the country and is the largest bookstore in the world in terms of area (approximately 25,000 square meters). Different titles of the book in different categories have settled on the shelves in an orderly manner and invite readers and book lovers to them! You will probably find any book you want in this space. On the shelves, there are small benches and chairs to sit on safely, carefully check the books, and then buy. Other parts of the block include the Adolescent Science Garden, the Cessna 172 flight simulator, and the Book Garden Escape Room. Adolescent Science Garden is the largest scientific amusement park in Iran.
